The NFL’s current best quarterback is in the hunt for another Super Bowl title – his third in a row. A feat that has never happened in the league’s history.
Patrick Mahomes’ breakthrough came in 2019, when he led the Kansas City Chiefs to their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years, in which they beat the San Francisco 49ers.
That was just the beginning of countless more achievements for the quarterback. In 2020, he signed a 10-year contract extension worth 503 million dollars.
Following his extension with the franchise, he led the Chiefs to the Super Bowl for the second time in a row – and they won again. A big victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now 28, the signal-caller is in his prime and has established himself as a top-level athlete. The KC legend has to give up a lot to dedicate himself to a routine of training, diet and health care in order to stay in shape.
A superstar sportsman and an ordinary guy at the same time
The reigning champion tries his best to keep his life as ‘normal’ as possible. He is aware of his greatness, but makes a point of adopting the approach of an ordinary person.
On Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast, Mahomes spoke about his motivations for being a down-to-earth person.
“I watched my dad play professional baseball and I always saw these greats, like Alex Rios and Derek Jeter, and how they worked on their craft. And I knew when my plan was to be a professional athlete I wanted to be down to earth. I wanted the kid to come up to me and ask for advice. It’s been cool, man.”
He went on to add that the team still has unfinished business: “It’s been a lot of fun. I never would expect to be a football player. I never would have expected to have this success. And it’s been a lot of fun, and we’re not done, man.”
His wife and family’s role in Mahomes’ career
In his appearance on the podcast, the QB talks all the time about his family, his wife and how they are the loves of his life.
Brittany Mahomes has been his partner since high school – they’ve been together for more than 10 years. The couple has two children, a girl named Sterling and a boy called Bronze.
“People don’t even realize how much she does, taking care of the day-to-day stuff and making it so where I can focus on football, focus on my craft and everything like that.”
“Hall of fame wife.” he said proudly. They consider themselves best friends.
When asked about where being a ‘prime athlete’ ranks among the things that are most important to him, Mahomes didn’t hesitate and made a list.
“Just below my kids being born, getting married and just above my three Super Bowls. So, somewhere in that area.”
Beyond his talent and greatness on the pitch, Mahomes carries on a legacy of a player who values the people he loves and who live the journey alongside him.
