Rashee Rice is facing more legal trouble.

Chiefs' Rashee Rice looks at assault investigation reporters

Rashee Rice is coming off his first Super Bowl victory with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the star wide receiver is dealing with more legal trouble involving an alleged assault. Rice is under investigation for allegedly hitting a photographer at a club in Dallas early Monday, Dallas police sources said, per WFAA.

Dallas police officers are reportedly interviewing witnesses about the incident that occurred at the address of Lit Kitchen. Rice’s investigation comes shortly after his connected involvement in a multi-car crash in late March.

Rice turned himself in to Glenn Heights, TX on April 11th after a warrant was issued for his role in the collision that left several people injured. The Chiefs receiver was reportedly taken to the DeSota jail, where he posted a $40,000 bond and was later released.

Rice’s attorney Sen. Royce West released a statement amid his turn-in.

“Mr. Rashee Rice turned himself in today and was released on bond. I want to re-emphasize Mr. Rice’s continued cooperation with law enforcement. Mr. Rice acknowledges his actions and feels deeply for those injured as a result of this accident. Our legal team is now tasked with reviewing all legal documents,” provided by WFAA.

Rice faces eight charges in the case—six counts of collision involving bodily injury, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and one count of aggravated assault. As West mentioned, the 23-year-old has been cooperating with police since the March 30th incident.

“Today, I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s accident,” Rice said in an April 3rd statement. “I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone involved in Saturday’s accident.”

The star receiver will continue another legal battle with the news of his alleged club assault, as his investigations continue to develop.

A recap of Rashee Rice’s year-long stint with the Chiefs

Rice joined the Chiefs when the team selected him with the 55th pick in the second of the 2023 NFL Draft. The SMU product showed potential as a promising receiver for Patrick Mahomes. Rice amassed 938 yards and seven touchdowns on 79 receptions during his rookie year.

He was a part of a Kansas City core that won their third Super Bowl in five years. The Chiefs retain most of the pieces that have helped them to success, but everything arguably revolves around rising eighth-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes has been present for all three of Kansas City’s titles during the 2020s era. Head coach Andy Reid shouted Mahomes out as the key to his and the team’s success after their 2024 championship.

Reid told reporters at the 2024 Scouting Combine that the way to attain success as a coach is to “get a good quarterback,” per Nate Taylor. In addition, the veteran coach believes developing a QB is all about the teaching approach.

“You try to teach. That’s why we’re here. It’s not about the plays. It’s how you teach them,” Reid said.

It will be interesting to see how the Chiefs fare during the offseason amid their revamp and the controversy of former rookie Rashee Rice.
