Even if the San Francisco 49ers fell short of the Super Bowl, the outlook on the team is still pretty good for next season. To make it better, the front office must acquire Graham Glasgow from the Detroit Lions to improve protection around Brock Purdy.
Thanks to a 3rd-ranked offense and defense out of 32 teams in the NFL, the 49ers were able to get past a number of opponents in the playoffs. These include a pair of close wins against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.

After the smoke had cleared, the 49ers found the Kansas City Chiefs on the other end of the field in Super Bowl LVIII. After a hard-fought battle, the latter came out on top in overtime with a score of 25-22.
After falling to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, the 49ers now enter free agency with several of their players set to leave. At the same time, the team is also looking to sign new guys for next season in free agency.
Why The San Francisco 49ers Must Sign Graham Glasgow In Free Agency To Boost Brock Purdy’s Protection

Among the guys San Francisco must consider in free agency is the Lions’ Graham Glasgow, whose previous contract was worth $4 million. Aaron Schatz dived more in his article for ESPN:
“The 49ers need to overhaul the offensive line this offseason with free agent signings and draft picks. Adding Glasgow would be a small part of the solution. Surely Glasgow would come on a short-term contract, as he turns 32 in July. However, he has significant experience with the zone blocking that is a staple of the 49ers’ offense.
Glasgow ranked second among all guards in run block win rate last season (77.2%). His pass block win rate was average at 91% but still higher than 49ers guards Aaron Banks (88.6%) and Spencer Burford (87.9%). Glasgow could slide in to replace either Banks on the left side or Burford and Jon Feliciano on the right side. Glasgow also has experience playing center if the 49ers need flexibility,” Schatz wrote.
If all goes well, Purdy’s can focus more on running San Francisco’s offense without the fear of getting tackled or disrupted. In turn, the 49ers can run an efficient offensive lineup when the NFL returns later this year.

It’d be interesting to see where Glasgow will end up in the coming days. What’s certain is that San Francisco will be a great fit for him if he decides to sign up with the Brock Purdy and the team for next season.
