Cam Taylor-Britt Planning to Host Bengals Secondary Workout Sessions in Offseason

Cincinnati’s defense gave up far too many big plays in 2023.

CINCINNATI — Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt had a breakout season, finishing with 50 tackles, four interceptions and one touchdown in 12 games.

Despite the second-year defensive back playing at a high level, Cincinnati’s secondary struggled to prevent explosive plays for most of the season.

Taylor-Britt believes communication issues are a big reason why the secondary had so many issues.

“It’s the number one thing,” he said. “You gotta have communication on the back end. Communication is key for us. That’s one thing we plan to work on a lot this offseason. I need to be able to see what those guys see, they need to see what I see, we gotta know the situation.”

The 24-year-old plans to get Dax Hill, Jordan Battle, DJ Turner, Mike Hilton and the rest of the defensive backs together so they can train and get on the same page this offseason.

“I was just talking to the young guys about that. We’re gonna get started instantly,” Taylor-Britt said. “I know the season over now, but I’m gonna give them some time to rest up a little bit and we’re gonna all fly somewhere together and we’re gonna get started early. Because there’s no way some of the things [that] happened should’ve happened this year. I believe if we get started a lot earlier and we’ll be on the same page, they can’t stop us.

Cam Taylor-Britt Plans to Lead Secondary in Crucial Offseason for Bengals

Will this defense rebound after giving up an NFL-worst six yards-per-play? Taylor-Britt is confident they can fix things next season.

“They’re grown men. You don’t have to say a lot of things too many times to these guys,” he said. “Once we get on the same page is the biggest thing. I need to see what Jordan Battle see or Dax (Hill) sees on the back end. Along with DJ (Turner). Bringing us all in together so we can be on one.”
