Ever since the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl back in February, there’s been a lot of speculation about what the future holds for star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, as it seems the two sides have struggled to see eye-to-eye on a contract extension.
Things have gotten so bad between Aiyuk and the 49ers front office that it seems as though a trade request could be on the horizon, especially with the 2024 NFL Draft being right around the corner, which would be the perfect time for the team to make a move.
Adding even more fuel to the fire, Aiyuk has apparently unfollowed the 49ers on Instagram, which is almost always an indication of a player’s frustration with a franchise.
According to Dov Kleiman, Aiyuk is no longer following the storied NFL franchise on Instagram, which could mean a trade is in the works, or the two sides have stopped talking about a contract extension.

Aiyuk has played all four seasons in the NFL with the 49ers and is coming off arguably his best year with the team, as he caught 75 passes for a career-high 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
The 26-year-old receiver has become one of Brock Purdy’s favorite targets in the passing game and a vital piece to the offensive puzzle in San Francisco, which means they’d miss him if he was traded, which might be inevitable at this point.
Although there’s been no news on the status of contract talks, this latest development is likely not a step in the right direction.
